The dictionary gives us the definition as being [a state, process, or instance of combustion in which fuel or other material is ignited and combined with oxygen, giving off light, heat, and flame.] but also as being  [the destructive burning of a building, town, forest, etc.; conflagration.]

In summary, the fire destroys everything on its passage. And it’s obvious that most of the time, we compare all of our worse trials to hell on earth; hell that is clearly defined by [a place full of burning fire].

As I have been going through a clear abandonment the past summer on June 29th, I can tell you that I was in hell this very day and the days that followed. When my ex fiancé cancelled the wedding 3 weeks before the due date (can’t believe it was almost 9 months ago), I really felt in my bones and flesh what it would be to burn in an eternal fire, where sadness and hurt never stop.

I felt helpless, powerless and in a state where life was almost not worth living anymore. This trial has definitely been the worse in my life and the past months have mostly been a constant fire for me.

It has been a long process in my heart to understand that trials and difficulties can really be seen as opportunities. Yes, I know, it sounds outrageous if you are not at this stage of healing but trust me, trials are opportunities.

Trials are here to test our faith; this is something I am sure of. Sometime, we don’t understand the trials we go through and might never be able to receive or give an explanation to it. But I know for sure that we have a God who will always be by our side and able to lift us up, no matter what trial we go through.

I don’t know about your trials dear friend… But I can tell you about mine. I realized that all of them and especially the one from the past summer brought one common thing to me: they brought me closer to Jesus. Closer than ever expected.

Dear reader, the fire you and I go through is not here to consume us. The fire is here to purify us.

These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. ~ 1 Peter 1:7

This passage in the bible proves us clearly that our faith is always brought to test, as the gold is, in order to be liberated from all our impurities.

Whatever happens to us on this earth, this shouldn’t bring us away for the ultimate plan God has for us. Trials might come our way, but the plans God has for us are good and amazing and will take place!

Going through the fire will not kill us but make us stronger. Remember that it is in our weakness that God glorifies Himself. It is when I am weak that I am strong in Him.

So when you feel like you are going through hell on earth, remember that you have Jesus for you. Jesus conquered death at the cross. Remember that no power in the dark world, no evil spirits in the heavenly places can destroy you. Train your heart to stick itself on the TRUTH OF GOD! It is when you will order your soul to praise God and trust by faith, taking the weapons He gives you, that you will be able to pass through fire without even being burned. You will see the fire as an opportunity to grow in faith, you will see people getting to Christ because of your story, you will see signs, wonders and miracles happening all around you!

When your heart will understand the purpose of your trials rather than to try to understand the trial itself and when it will submit to God no matter what, even a fire 7 times hotter will not scare you, because you will know that your God protects you as He did with Daniel and his friends.

Daniel 3:19- 27

“He (the king Nebuchadnezzar) commanded that the furnace be heated seven times hotter than usual. […]Then the high officers, officials, governors, and advisers crowded around them and saw that the fire had not touched them (Daniel and his friends). Not a hair on their heads was singed, and their clothing was not scorched. They didn’t even smell of smoke!”

So, dear reader, wouldn’t it be the time to press on and sing in the fire?
