BEING PATIENTLY PATIENT WITH PATIENCE

I decided to throw out a bombe ! Worse subject ever, don’t you think ?

I mean, who in this entire universe like the word « patience » ? Who, as a kid, already liked when mom was saying « Not now, we will open the presents the morning of Christmas, be patient »

Patience…patience…

Folks, I could tell you so many stories about patience that you would think « patience » and I are best friends, when in reality we have never been that close my whole life !

And that is all the point ! When you are not friend with this type of « skill », you surely can be surely sure (there is a lot of surelery here :)) that God will put you in a certain situation to teach you how to use it !

If you read this article and you are one of the most impatient person, what follows will seem like the story of your life !!!!

Did you ever wonder why all the time you are late and hurry on the road, you are stuck because everybody in front of you decided to drive more than slowly… ?

Did you ever wonder why all the time you pick a check-out line in a store, it ends up being the one where the person in front of you gets troubles with some purchases and you are stuck for like 20 minutes… ?

Did you ever wonder why when you pick up your suitcase after the airplane landed, it is the one arriving ALWAYS ALMOST at the end… ?

Did you ever wonder why (and in my situation, it just happened today 3 times), all the time you are in the midst of a huge mess, a huge storm due to a breaking up and a cancellation of a wedding in my case, people decided to open their mouth in what it appears to be a bad day and tell you « Oh, did you know that Bla Bla and Blo Blo are getting married the next summer » or « Oh, did you know that Bla Bla started dating someone and it’s super serious !? Will end up by a wedding soon… »

Should I go on with the  « Did you ever wonder » ???

You probably got my point right ?

There are times folks, when it is just not the right time to go through these kind of tests… And I asked many time « God, why ? » But life is just not a beautiful pink bubble full of candies clouds and happy feelings. Life is though. Life is not waiting for you to feel better, life is just moving on and you have no choice than to move on with it.

Remember also that if you want to become a disciple of Jesus, you will have to pick up your own cross and follow Him and as I read it many times in the bible, Jesus never said it would easy.

I think that God allows some situations like that so that we can grow. Grow ? But grow in what ?

Well dear reader, to grow IN PATIENCE !!!! and of course, to grow IN FAITH !!

James 5:7

Patience and Endurance ] Dear brothers and sisters, be patient as you wait for the Lord’s return. Consider the farmers who patiently wait for the rains in the fall and in the spring. They eagerly look for the valuable harvest to ripen.

James 5:10

For examples of patience in suffering, dear brothers and sisters, look at the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord.

Psalm 37:7

Be still in the presence of the Lord,  and wait patiently for him to act.

Romans 8:25
[…] we must wait patiently and confidently

Two days ago, I was talking with Jesus. As usual, getting ready and putting makeup in the bathroom, I was telling Him how confuse I was still yet, with all what happened to me the past few months and I ask Him « Lord, how long still should I wait ? I mean, please, just give me an answer.»

Went back to my bedroom, and opened my devotional book and my bible as I do every morning before leaving home.

Guess what ? God was waiting for me ! Right there, kinda saying « Well, Kathleen, let’s have a talk »

And here is what He said to me as soon as I opened my daily devotional :

« God’s timing is not ours to command »

Alright, alright, alright ! I think I get it… But because I am kinda stubborn, I needed more and He kept speaking ! I opened my « one year  bible » and here is what He said as it was my today’s reading :

James 1:2-4

Faith and Endurance

Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.

I can tell you that I really felt thankful. I needed Him to tell me this. The problem however is when you hear something and you forget, people have constantly to remind you. And God is the same on this, very PATIENT with us.

I say this because today was a though day after hearing about all those people getting married or dating… And I asked Him again « Lord, how long until you will give me someone who is ready to commit ? If you restore us, great ! If not, I know you will give me someone  great and perfect for me, but when ? »

Went in my bedroom this afternoon and opened my devotional book as I didn’t find the time to read it this morning before Church and here is God again, kinda smiling at me and saying :

« Blessed is the one who waits » – Daniel 12 :12

And here are some parts of the text that follows this verse :

« There are time of indecision and confusion, when even the most willing person, who eagerly desires to serve the Lord, does not know what direction to take . So what should you do when you find yourself in this situation ? Should you allow yourself to be overcome with despair ? Should you turn back in cowardice or in fear or rush ahead in ignorance ? No, you should simply wait – But wait in prayer […] wait in faith […] He will come at the right time to fulfill His vision for you. Wait in quiet patience. Never complain about what you believe to be the cause of your problems […] Accept your situation exactly as it is and then simply place it with your whole heart into the hand of your covenant God. And while removing any self-will, say to Him « Lord, not my will, but yours be done »

Well, in answer to that, I have no other words than:

« I will wait even if You keep me here many days, for my heart is fixed on YOU alone, dear Lord. And my spirit will wait for You with full confidence that You will still be my joy and my salvation. »

Wait, patiently wait,

Go dis never late ;

Your budding plans are in Your Father’s holding,

And only wait His grand divine unfolding.

Then wait, wait,

Patiently wait.

Trust, hopefully trust,

That God will adjust

Your tangled life, and from its dark concealings,

Will bring His will, in all its bright revealings

Then trust, trust,

Hopefully trust.

The breaking through is near dear reader. Just hold on, wait patiently and trust in Him.
